In Its Own Right
To Multiply Voices of Palestinian Artists

To multiply the voices of Palestinian artists that believe in the importance of their practice as cultural resistance, we are echoing the stories of lives under settler colonialism. Mixed with our own reflections about political theatre as a way to reignite Palestinian cultural flame. Believing this is an act of political love and solidarity with those who need that we exercise our rights and freedom of speech to make echo of their legitimate claim to exist.
In Its Own Right is our theatrical answer to the call to join a global artistic collaboration with The Revolution’s Promise, a collaboration between Artists on the Frontline and The Freedom Theatre in Jenin.

Whispers of the Wild – A Theatre Performance

Whispers of the Wild
Zapatista Tales of Resistance and Connection

Music, dance and spoken word originated by the universal Zapatista tales of nature, humanity and wisdom transcending borders.
A theatre performance where drops of rain meet the earth to become a river, a fish and a tree that know all too well that real joy only lies in acknowledging the other.
This theatre performance is originated by months of communal workshops and rehearsals at AstaroTheatro in the spirit of resistance and connection.

With: Cristina, Eva, Giusy, Maria, Martin, Mehdi, Roberto, Savalan
Music: Baschira

The Want – An Evening of Theatre and Talks

The Want
An Evening of Theatre and Talks

We perform a short excerpt from ‘In the solitude of the cotton fields’ by Bernard-Marie Koltès where our dramaturgical analysis underlines the consumerism and the commodification in society.
We sit together and we engage in an open conversation about the topics highlighted by the theatre performance: from commodification to war from environmental disaster to autonomous communities, from the manipulation of love to anything we would like to discuss.
Because The Dealer is always there to remind you that ‘you must want something’. So be aware that you are nothing but a consumer in a consumers’ world. Unless you don’t want The Want.

Kypseli Quintet at AstaroTheatro

Kypseli Quintet
is an ensemble of classical music that aims to present unique music programs by re-exploring old gems and working with new upcoming composers. The ensemble is a mix of wind and string instruments, this gives us a variety of colors which we wish to showcase as much as possible with our own arrangements and to reflect that in our programs with a variety of works in contrasting styles!

The inspiration behind the program is to touch different moments in time with works from different time periods.Starting from the 17th century with the “Old Hungarian Dances” and carving a line to modernity. Along the way we dive into different styles from Elliot Carter’s embellished neoclassicism to Gershwin’s “third wave” jazz-infused playfulness! It’s a program we put our heart into and really believe the audience will enjoy.

Dit Ben Ik. This is Me

DIT BEN IK. THIS IS ME.

Pranay is a Polish actor and in 2021 moved to Amsterdam.
Brought his dreams with him as other immigrants before him.
Dreams sometimes need a time to come true – so he waits, he still believes.
But time is running out – this year he turns 40.
Maybe it is already too late, maybe everything has been decided.
So he builds his own theatre from cardboard and stages his life.
What ghosts from the past haunt this stage?

Pranay’s dramedy is a mixture of puppet theatre, storytelling, stand-up and ritual.
The show deals with issues of identity, being an immigrant, gay and an artist.

Pranay Pawlicki graduated from Academy of Theatre Arts in Poland.
Dit ben ik is his 3rd solo show, 2nd in English
