How artists come together inspired by resistance and international solidarity
An event of music, theatre and togetherness

It all began with a song connecting the mountains of Southern Italy to the peaks of Kurdistan by providing a common ground of resistance and solidarity.
Today this profound nexus of true international solidarity is still the main motivation for artists to come together.
Now we wish to share tales of natural life versus flashy urban consumerism. And music of course. Lots of music of love, friendship, dignity and resistance against any oppression.
Same spirit while exploring even more meaningful artistic contents. A La Muntagna is all yours again!

commemorating catastrophe
a precarious theatre performance by AstaroTheatro

Our demand of a righteous and permanent ceasefire extends worldwide where the logics of war and arms trade cynically unfold as business as usual.
Permanent displacement. Catastrophe. Ongoing nakba.
In the face of ethnic cleansing and genocide this theatre performance originates from the deep-felt desire to clear the space, to clean up any surface tainted by horror so to see the light through dust and rubble.

A nakba commemoration in the spirit of resistance through art.
Inspired by The Revolution’s Promise and The Freedom Theatre in Jenin, Occupied West Bank.
Dedicated to Mustafa Sheta General Director at The Freedom Theatre who has been brutally held in Israeli prison without trial or charge since 13th December 2023.

Whispers of the Wild
Zapatista Tales of Resistance and Connection

Music, dance and spoken word originated by the universal Zapatista tales of nature, humanity and wisdom transcending borders.
A theatre performance where drops of rain meet the earth to become a river, a fish and a tree. They know all too well that real joy only lies in acknowledging the other.
This theatre performance is originated by months of communal workshops and rehearsals at AstaroTheatro in the spirit of resistance and connection.

Theatre as Communal Experience 
Workshop at Lola Lieven
Saturday 13 April, 14:00-17:00

This theatre workshop aims to gather around the necessity of grassroots, multidisciplinary, multilingual, transcultural artistic expression based on theatre, music, singing, visual arts, voice and body performance.
We explore the basics of the performative practice: posture, movement, presence, body, the other in the space, games and the voice in many of its expressions.
Our voices engage in spoken word, text and poetry to reach the poetry performance: from poetry to theatre.
Our bodies will play roles and will accompany impros and storytelling. Our practice will originate from ourselves: memories, stories and sounds of stones and steps, images of repopulated land, memories of touching each other, smell of seaweed.

The workshops aim to build communities and commonalities with theatrical, performative pedagogies, As a cultural space of Lola Lieven, we are engaged in creating a connected neighbourhood. With this series of workshops, we would like to give space to different backgrounds of people, people with refugee, undocumented experiences, activists, artivists, elderly and young people and different identities. Racialised backgrounds have priority in the space of Lola Lieven. 

Theatre as Communal Experience is open to neighbourhood residents of Lola Lieven but also to anyone willing to participate. No artistic background is required, we only aim at creating community and awareness.

In Its Own Right
To Multiply Voices of Palestinian Artists

To multiply the voices of Palestinian artists that believe in the importance of their practice as cultural resistance, we are echoing the stories of lives under settler colonialism. Mixed with our own reflections about political theatre as a way to reignite Palestinian cultural flame. Believing this is an act of political love and solidarity with those who need that we exercise our rights and freedom of speech to make echo of their legitimate claim to exist.
In Its Own Right is our theatrical answer to the call to join a global artistic collaboration with The Revolution’s Promise, a collaboration between Artists on the Frontline and The Freedom Theatre in Jenin.
